Our History
Ali Çelik was born in 1908 in Kastamonu Cide, Turkey. He worked as a caulker and drill master on boats in Ayvansaray, Istanbul. Caulking involves filling the gaps between the planks of old wooden boats with oakum. Later, his son, Ali Çelik, was born in Cide in 1940. In 1952, he started his apprenticeship with his father. After gaining experience and observing different boat models, in 1978, he, along with his partner Mehmet Yıldırım, founded Huzur Tekne in Ayvansaray, Istanbul, where they built over 100 wooden boats ranging from 3 to 12 meters.
Ali Çelik’s twin sons, Halil Çelik and İbrahim Çelik, born in 1969, began their apprenticeship with their father in Ayvansaray in 1980. They made significant contributions to bringing Huzur Tekne into the modern era by adapting to a busy work schedule and incorporating contemporary technologies.
In 1978, Ali Çelik’s younger son, Zeki Çelik, was born, and he joined the Huzur Tekne family in 1993.
Huzur Tekne moved to Tuzla, Istanbul, in 1983, marking the start of a journey from boatbuilding to yacht production.
Since its establishment, Huzur Tekne has manufactured over 100 boats ranging from 5 to 15 meters in length and a total of 25 boats between 15 and 35 meters. In 2003, Huzur Tekne changed its name to Huzur Yat San. Tur, and Tic. Ltd. Şti.
In 2015, they formed a partnership with Av. Vedat Doğusel, the owner of Doğusel Companies Group and the President of the Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce.
The Huzur Yat family continued to expand over the years:
In 1993, İbrahim Çelik’s eldest son, Ali Çelik, was born. He graduated from Gelişim University with a degree in Logistics and from Anadolu University with a degree in Business. To gain diverse experiences, he worked as a manager in the Logistics and Planning department of a private company for three years before joining Huzur Yat in 2015.
In 1995, Halil Çelik’s eldest daughter, Pınar Çelik, was born. She graduated from Piri Reis University with a degree in Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering. To enhance her skills and gain experience on different projects, she worked as a boat design engineer in a private shipyard for three years before joining Huzur Yat in 2021.
In 2001, Halil Çelik’s youngest son, Emir Çelik, was born. Inspired by his father and eager to learn the intricacies of the business, Emir Çelik joined Huzur Yat at an early age in 2020.
